INTRO STORY
My name is Mike Crist and I've been collecting comics and comic art for most of my life. Some of the comic art that I've purchased have had tape, foxing, stains, yellowing from aging and other imperfections. I wanted to get these flaws removed so I could display my artwork in my home and conserve it to slow down the aging process. I also wanted to seek out the best art conservationist to perform the work and thats when I met Mercedeh Shahbal fifteen years ago here in Houston Texas. Over the years she has performed cleaning and preservation work on some of my comic art pages. I've so impressed with the outcomes that I launch Comic Art Care.
As a collector it is very important to slow down the paper aging process. Much of the comic art today is already over 50 years old and is slowly falling apart and yellowing. Like you I've paid a lot of money for my artwork, so as a collector it's in our best interest to maintain or improve its presentation value. On a larger scale art preservation and restoration will enhance and protect the comic art collector industry as a whole for future generations to enjoy.
Comic Art Care has partnered with Mercedeh to serve the art collector community with a special focus on the comic art. She loves and restores all types of art and has even restored a Pablo Picasso painting. She prefers restoring comic art because it's typically not as tedious as damaged oil paintings by having a faster turnaround time.
